Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Hi. I’m Sara, and this is my privacy policy. I know — thrilling reading. But it matters, and I’ll keep it as painless as possible.

Who I Am

This site is sararouse.io, run by Sara Rouse. If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, you can reach me via the Contact page.

What Information I Collect

Information You Give Me

If you fill out the contact form on this site, I collect:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your email address
  • The message you send me

That’s it. I use it to respond to you. I don’t add you to a mailing list, I don’t sell it, and I don’t hand it to anyone else.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, this site collects some basic technical information when you visit:

  • Server logs — my web host automatically records things like your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is standard infrastructure stuff I don’t control, and it’s used for security and site operation only.
  • Cookies — WordPress sets a small number of functional cookies to keep the site running properly. This site also uses Google Analytics, which sets analytics cookies to help understand how visitors find and use the site. See the Google Analytics section below for details.

Third-Party Services

Google Fonts: This site loads fonts from Google’s servers. As a side effect, Google receives your IP address when a page loads. I don’t send Google any identifying information about you — this is just how font delivery works when fonts aren’t self-hosted. Google’s privacy policy covers their data practices.

Web Hosting: My hosting provider maintains server infrastructure and may process technical data as part of normal operations. I don’t share personal information with them beyond what’s necessary to run the site.

Google Analytics: This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site — which pages are visited, how long people stay, and how they arrived. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information anonymously. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google through this service. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

How I Use Your Information

  • To respond to messages you send me via the contact form
  • To keep the site running and secure
  • That’s genuinely it

I do not use your information for advertising. I do not sell your information. I do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

How Long I Keep It

Contact form submissions are kept as long as needed to respond and follow up, then deleted. I don’t maintain a permanent database of everyone who’s ever emailed me.

Your Rights (Including California Residents)

If you’re a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you some specific rights. But honestly, these apply to everyone who contacts me:

  • Right to know — You can ask what personal information I have about you.
  • Right to delete — You can ask me to delete it.
  • Right to opt out of sale — I don’t sell personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of.

To make any of these requests, use the Contact page. I’ll respond within 30 days.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If I make meaningful changes to this policy, I’ll update the “last updated” date at the top. I’m not anticipating major changes — this is a pretty simple site.

Questions, concerns, or requests? Use the Contact page.

I built this site to make security make sense for real people. The least I can do is have a privacy policy that does the same.
